Vision and Values of the Competition
The vision and values of the 1st Virtual International Med-Arb Competition (VIMAC’24) revolve around the principles of advancing legal education and fostering global collaboration. This competition aims to provide law students with an unparalleled opportunity to develop practical skills in both mediation and arbitration, preparing them for real-world dispute resolution. We are committed to promoting ethical practices, enhancing advocacy skills, and encouraging innovative thinking. Through this platform, we seek to nurture a community of future legal professionals who are adept at handling complex disputes with a balanced approach, contributing to the evolution of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods worldwide.
Format of Med-Arb
What and How?
The format of the competition includes various roles for each team member across the rounds. Each team consists of three members: two members act as a Client-Advocate pair in the Mediation session, with one member as the Mediator.
For the Arbitration session, the Client-Advocate pair becomes the Counsels, while the Mediator from the Mediation session acts as an Observer/Researcher. During each round, the Client-Advocate pairs from different teams will compete against each other, with co-mediators facilitating the Mediation session. The roles remain consistent throughout the competition, ensuring each participant gains experience in both mediation and arbitration processes.
